Active sunglasses with frames made from recycled plastic bottles and domestic polarized lenses are now available.


What are polarized lenses?

● These lenses cut irregular reflections of light (e.g., glare from road surfaces and water) to ensure a clear field of vision.

● They can be used for a wide range of purposes, including daily use, to protect eyes from harmful light such as UV rays. (Marine sports, winter sports, fishing, running, driving, etc.)

● They enhance contrast without compromising the color tone of your vision, cutting irregular reflections from road surfaces, water surfaces, and snowfields, providing a cool field of vision.

Features of polarized lenses used by PLAGLA

■Material

・CR-39
The optical performance is closest to glass, providing clear vision. Compared to inexpensive polarized lenses, it features less material distortion.

・Cuts 99% of harmful UV400 rays and also cuts reflective glare that causes dazzling.


■Lens Coating

・Hard Coating (Surface)
Scratch-resistant coating, making the lens more resistant to scratches than regular lenses. By adhering resin to the surface, hardness increases, making it less prone to scratches.

・Multi Coating (Back)
Anti-reflection coating reduces reflections of images that appear on the back of the lens.

・Water Repellent Coating
This coating has the effect of repelling water even if water droplets adhere to the lens surface, making dirt easier to remove than with regular lenses.

 


Eco-friendly sunglasses made from plastic bottles

The frame is made from approximately two 500ml plastic bottles, and the total weight, including the lenses, is only 34 grams.

The nose pads and temples are designed to fit the Japanese bone structure, so they won't slip easily. They are so light that you'll forget you're wearing them.

Perfect for long periods of use in active settings.

The frame is flexible, providing a comfortable fit that gently embraces the entire head.

Additionally, from the 2025SS season, metal hinges are used.
Made from a material (cupronickel) that resists rust from sweat and seawater, these hinges offer improved durability without the concerns of rust or degradation from sweat and seawater that were present with conventional integrated hinges.
Furthermore, with re-recycling in mind, the design allows for removal from the main body with a single screw.
